WHAT IS DEPRESSION
Depression is a state of mind that causes people to feel sad, tired and discouraged by their journey through life. Everything seems difficult to accomplish, nothing seems to be bringing joy to ones life anymore. This feeling can be very difficult to bear with.
Depression can be caused by many reasons. One of them is genetics. If your parents suffer from depression, you are more likely to also suffer from depression during your life.
But, depression can also be induced by your life habits. Cultivating bad and unhealthy life habits can result into depression. For example, if you tend to drink often, not exercise, stay in front of the TV or your laptop for hours, all of these can cause you to feel depressed. It is very important to take a look at your life and see what is working and what isn’t.
The very first step to overcome depression is to be aware that you actually are depressed! Once you are aware, make a list of the things that you are unhappy with in your life. Do you like yourself physically? Are you happy at work? Do you enjoy your friends company? What sparks joy and what doesn’t? Ask yourself those questions and answer them honestly.
WHY SHOULD YOU WORK WITH A LIFE COACH
Climbing the mountain of life alone can be quite arduous and draining at times. Have you ever tried to go jogging alone? How did it feel? Where you out of breath, exhausted, bored, and ready to abandon after a few minutes on the treadmill? How about when you go jogging with a friend? How does that feel? Don’t you feel like time goes by much faster? And weird enough, it feels less painful.
Well, it’s the same concept to work with a Life Coach. Your Life Coach will help you carry your burden and guide you through the journey towards success. They will give you feedback on your progress and help you put yourself into perspective.
A Life Coach also helps you think outside of the box. When you are alone on the journey, you tend t see only what you want to see and what your own sight allows you to see. The Life Coach, on the other hand will give you its own perspective and opinion. He or she will question and challenge your ideas and opinions in order to make you grow.
