HOW TO ESCAPE THE 9 TO 5

Would you say you are the black sheep of your family? You feel like you don’t fit in the regular 9h to 5h system? Are you wondering how you can escape it? If you are, you landed on the right page to get some help and advice.

The very first piece of advice you should listen to is the following: Read books, a lot of them!

But not just any kind of books, read books that will inspire, motivate and uplift you. Read books about personal development and self-growth. If you hate reading (which used to be my case), start by listening to audiobooks. What’s so amazing about audiobooks is that you can literally listen to them everywhere and at any time of the day: when you’re at the gym, while you’re driving your car, in an airplane, you get the point.

Every single person I know that managed to escape the 9h to 5h, to start their own business and to follow their dreams had this one thing in common: They read books! Not just any comic book or tragic love story book, but inspirational, motivational and self development books. If you don’t know where to start, here’s a list of the books you should definitely start reading today:

1) The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho

2) Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill

3) The Passion test by Janet and Chris Attwood

4) The 7 Spiritual Laws of success by Deepak Chopra

5) Start with why by Simon Sinek

Make sure you read those books in the order they are listed above. Why? The reason is simple. In order to reach your goals and to achieve your dreams, you need to have faith and to believe that the Universe will provide. The Alchemist, written by Paolo Coelho, is a must read classic to make you believe in the power of the Universe, so called god in many religions (even though the powerful energy mentioned in that book has nothing to do with an old white man from the bible). Anyone who made it in terms of dream chasing, goal achievement and business launching, will tell you that having faith and strongly believing in yourself and trusting the universe is vital in order to succeed.

Once you have read The Alchemist, you will be ready to start reading Think and Grow rich by napoleon hill. This book is another great classic, a must read, when it comes to manifesting your deepest desires. no matter what they may be. In that book, you will learn many different ways and techniques to start manifesting the life of your dreams. You will be able to tell if your dreams can turn into reality by answering very simple questions such as: do you have a burning desire to achieve it? Is it an obsession for you? Or is it maybe just something you like? Are you ready to cut al bridges behind you to start this journey towards your dreams? Or would you rather have a plan B just in case it fails?

When you will be convinced and motivated about your ultimate goal, you could then read The Passion Test by Janet and Chris Attwood. This book will help you confirm your life’s purpose and passion. Are you sure you really are passionate about that idea you have? Are you so sure about it that you would even do it for free? This book will help you find your life’s purpose in a very methodological way. If you still don’t know what is your passion in life, you will for sure appreciate this read. Why is it so important to find your life’s passion? Because if you are not passionate about what you do, if you do not have a burning desire, you will fail, as sad as this may sound. The journey towards achieving the life of your dreams is long and filled with unexpected challenges, you must truly and deeply love what you do to accept those challenges and face them. Otherwise, if you are not truly passionate about what you do in life, you will easily choose the fast path, which is, abandoning your goal.

Now that you know for sure that you found something that is worth fighting for and giving all you have, you should read the 7 spiritual laws of success by Deepak Chopra. This, fast to read, book is a must read when it comes to living a successful life. It is filled with clever and motivational tips and advice. It will remind you that in order to succeed, you must not forget to live in the present moment and to be indulgent with yourself and others.

Finally, the last book of this short list, start why by Simon Sinek. Have you ever heard about the Ikigai? The Ikigai is basically your reason of being, your purpose in life. The Ikigai is composed of 4 aspects: what you love, what the world needs, what you can be paid for and what you are good at. If you manage to find something that combines all those 4 elements, it means you truly found your life’s purpose. Start with why will help you find your “why”, your reason of being, your life’s purpose. When time will come to sell services or products to your future clients, you will be able to tell them your “why”. Why are you selling this product or service? Why should people buy your product or service instead of someone else’s? What will differentiate you from others is going to be your “why”.
